The celebration for the 2021 BOP – Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the Year is a key part of the BCBF Online Special Edition. The BOP Prize is awarded each year to showcase editorial projects, professional skills and intellectual qualities of work from publishing houses all over the world. Let’s meet Levine Querido, winner for North America!

Levine Querido

Founded in 2019 by Arthur A. Levine, Levine Querido is an independent publisher of the finest children’s books in the world.
Levine Querido publishes two lists: The Arthur A. Levine list, seeking out the writing and artwork of exceptionally talented creators, with a distinct focus on building a platform for previously underrepresented voices. And the Em Querido list, a partnership with the renowned Dutch publisher to find the most outstanding authors and artists from around the world, aiming to keep the legacy of Emanuel Querido alive and flourishing.
Since its inaugural list in the Fall of 2020, Levine Querido has published two national bestsellers; garnered over 40 starred reviews; and won numerous awards including the Printz Medal, the Printz Honor, the National Book Award Longlist, the Pura Belpré Honor, the Sid Fleischman Award, and best-of nods from outlets such as the New York Times, TIME, the Wall Street Journal, and NPR.
