The celebration for the 2020 BOP – Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the Year is a key part of the BCBF Online Special Edition. The BOP Prize is awarded each year to showcase editorial projects, professional skills and intellectual qualities of work from publishing houses all over the world. Protea Book House is an independent South African publisher that aims to publish, amongst others, original books in Afrikaans. Protea also aims to publish translations the best children’s books in the world into Afrikaans, as well as other African languages. Currently, Protea also specialises in the publication of Afrikaans poetry and plays, nonfiction and South African history.
